We are pleased to inform you that the long term settlement is signed by five federations in the Port Trust. The salient features of the settlement:
- 1.Settlement period is 5 years effective from 01.01.2007
- 2. D A merger is 68.2+10=78.2%
- 3. Fitment is 23% on ( Basic+VDA)
The Management of Port trust has initially offered to give arrears of HRA and other allowances from date of signing of the settlement but not from actual due date i.e., 01.01.2007. Although, four of the five federations were convinced for the above proposal, CITU has rejected the same and went ahead with protests and agitations.Due to the strong protest from all sections of employees, all five federations have jointly decided to go on strike from 04.01.2010, in protest against non-payment of arrears from due date. As a result, the management of Port trust has called for a meeting and agreed to give all arrears from actual due date i.e.,01.01.2007.
This is a great victory not only for port workers but for entire working community across the nation.
HPCL Employees Union heartily congratulates the PORT WORKERS for the brave fight they put up for protecting their rights. We wish this stupendous victory will guide all others unions, who are in the process of wage negotiations.
